I never heard of him either…I was busy perhaps, but not as much as this kid. And I actually mean kid, he’s not even allowed to drink in ANY of the clubs where he DJ’s. On top of that, while most high school kids are worried about their driver’s license on their 16th birthday, this kid won an award for Best Newcomer DJ at the Vicious Music Awards last year.
It helps that your father is an interior designer for exclusive hotels and clubs in Spain and most of the owners are family friends, and you get to hang out while he talks business. What’s a kid to do…fiddle around apparently. That being said, Avila, has also been trained in piano and guitar since the age of four, which he credits to his production skills.
Discovered by Fedde le Grand at 14, Avila become somewhat of his protégé opening up for him in London and he himself established his own residencies this summer in Ibiza at: The Blue Marlin, Space and Pacha where he spun alongside Tiesto.
He’s played some events here stateside, nothing big, just: Nocturnal Wonderland by Insomniac Events, DayGlow and Electric Daisy Carnival in Puerto Rico, mostly on the mainstage, he started his US tour last week and is all booked up. Word is gets around quick in the music world if you’re good and in August he was offered his own radio show by Sirius XM’s Electric Area, called Ready to Jump.
Speaking of jumping, in his free time (yeah this kid makes you feel like a hack, huh) he competes in wakeboarding championships and is nationally ranked in Spain among professionals in his age group…he also loves snowboarding and skateboarding.
He totally looks like he could get away with being in a boy band. Until he drops a sick beat, you forget about his boyish good looks and his age and recognize that this one is force to be reckoned with. He’s got a bright future ahead of him!
Here was opening week this summer in Ibiza:
And this is his most recent radio show:
